March 14th – Kirklees Council ‘Locate Here’ project
This was a bit more of a challenge, after putting forward my proposal for the job (something I’ve not had to do before…) I was the offered the commission against a selection of other photographers, and then came the wait for some good weather… I only had a three week window to get the required shots, unfortunately winter arrived with a vengeance! First we had the snow, and this wasn’t your Daily Mail snow, this was the real deal. After this I was playing catch up from all delayed work. This week I had to head out and make the most of the two days that didn’t rain. I was new to the area, and it was a baptism by fire, I feel like I really know the area now! Walking down all the streets I could, looking for little architectural gems, trying to show off the modern and developing region, rather than the stereotype the majority of people might have (Happy Valley C4 was shot in the area…). It was a tiring but rewarding project and the locals couldn’t have been more friendly, especially the free beer from Magic Rock Bewery!
