Barn Conversion Photography Peak District – CECA Architects | Dug Wilders

Client: CECA Architects
Project Location: Peak District

This architectural photography commission documents a contemporary barn conversion in the Peak District for CECA Architects, capturing the transformation of a historic rural structure into a refined modern dwelling. The project sits within a Derbyshire village setting, requiring imagery that balanced the retained character of the original building with the clarity of the new architectural interventions.

A modern interior features a wooden staircase on the left and an open-plan kitchen and living area on the right, separated by a central wall.

The zinc-clad roof introduces a confident contemporary element that contrasts with the surrounding vernacular buildings without overpowering the village context. Careful exterior compositions were used to show how the conversion sits within the rural landscape while maintaining a distinct architectural identity.

Internally, the extensive use of timber finishes creates a tactile, warm and modern atmosphere throughout the living spaces. The photography focused on highlighting material textures, natural light and the relationship between the exposed structure and the newly introduced architectural detailing.

The final image set was produced for CECA Architects’ portfolio and promotional use, forming part of my wider architectural photography work across the Peak District and Derbyshire, documenting barn conversions, rural homes and sensitive contemporary interventions within heritage settings.
