Client: Peak Architects
Project Location: Bamford, Peak District
This architectural photography project documents a contemporary hall extension to a period property in Bamford, within the Peak District, designed by Peak Architects. The scheme combines a modern open-plan extension with a building dating from the early 1800s, requiring careful integration between historic fabric and contemporary design.

The extension introduces a generous open-plan living space with a mezzanine level and glass balustrade overlooking the main living area below. The design makes strong use of natural light, large glazed openings and refined interior finishes, creating a bright and spacious environment that contrasts with the character of the original building while remaining visually cohesive.

The client worked with an interior designer to develop the internal detailing, resulting in a series of thoughtfully composed spaces with high-quality materials, furniture and lighting. The photography focused on capturing both the architectural form of the extension and the interior styling, highlighting the relationship between the mezzanine, kitchen, dining and living areas.

The property occupies a particularly striking location, with Bamford Edge rising behind and the River Derwent in the valley below. Drone photography was therefore an essential part of the brief, allowing the setting and wider landscape context to be fully represented alongside the architectural imagery.

These photographs were produced for Peak Architects’ portfolio and promotional use, forming part of my wider architectural photography work across the Peak District, Derbyshire and the UK, documenting residential extensions, reconfigurations and high-quality contemporary interventions within historic properties.
